Welcome to Pisgah Peaks Ventures

“Quotes for Happiness”

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Who Pisgah Peaks Ventures?

Given this is the first blog in our series, I thought I would devote a bit of causation to the writing of this blog. It’s two-fold in a sense, as one cause was derived solely from personal experience (By the way, there is a great article on the weight of our own perspective, called “This is Water”, by David Foster Wallace). I was finding success in business by most societal/measurable inputs. However, if my rating of “success” (on a scale of 1-10) was moving closer to a 10, my rating of “fulfillment/happiness” was correlating in a similar trajectory down. I also wanted to explore who Pisgah Peaks was as a digital marketing agency.

The second cause for this project, would be the new pandemic/world we’re living in with Covid-19. Covid-19 has changed the way folks are working and interacting with their own world. As this rapid change has been thrust upon folks, from every walk of life, it has become increasingly important that we realize we’re in charge of our own happiness, and without a playbook or toolkit for this, we are set-up for failure. As a male, I feel hard-wired by family/society to box up feelings, put them inside, to ignore. Time and time again, I found the anger popping up in my business and personal interactions, much to my own detriment. Remote work requires its own skill-set and toolkit, and so does finding some time/space for self-care trapped within 1,000 square feet or less of physical space with (sometimes) multiple humans.

“Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be.” ― Abraham Lincoln.

How we can help!

So at the beginning of this year, I went on a journey to find that missing link, that slice of happiness I was missing. I had the “check-list” of things that were supposed to make me fulfilled. Wife, child, owned a home, had a 401K, a dog, etc. Still I felt as if I was going through the motions, a slug reacting to my life

What I’ve come to realize, through much searching, is that we need to focus our time on the things that only we can do. For me, this became a mix of bringing the picture back into focus and expanding someone’s self-care toolkit. For example, a long-time friend of mine started an online SaaS company. He, like most entrepreneurs, boot-strapped the entire project. Eventually, as he so eloquently said, “I’m fighting out of my weight-class”. This coupled with a tendency to develop blinders, has led him to a point in his own start-up where he needed some support. He didn’t need a 5,000 dollar a month advertising agency, promising optimized SEM, or world-class CTR. He needed a guiding light. He needed a beacon. He also needed a new set of eyes. Open some runway up for the next evolution of his concept. You should check it out www.trustease.com. Very cool project!

That’s why we’re here to serve you as a modern, personable digital marketing agency. Maybe you have an issue like above. Maybe you have a team member who is really struggling internally, and it’s affecting their external outputs. Instead of scraping the employee, and spending the looong amount of time it takes to retrain, rehire, etc. invest some time/energy/money into reframing how they view their own day/self. Maybe you, the CEO, or another C-level executive, feels like they have to be the “hero” all the time. Especially now, more than ever, does the CEO or CFO, etc. carry a burden with them while everyone else sleeps. They know how much cash is left to burn. They realize how much lasting impact that laying off their employees would have. It keeps them up at night, tossing and turning in their very comfortable bed : )

Let us help peel back a layer or two, and even if we only improve things 30-40%, then you’ve really come a long way!
